This beautiful hand made powder horn measures 12-1/2" long, as measured around the outer curve from the tip to the base. The 2-1/4" diameter base is exquisite with turned rings and incised decoration. The steel mushroom shaped base secures the strap. The paneled neck has two raised area as strap rings, the strap is currently tied to the one nearest the spout. The neck has some engrailed designs where it transitions into the body. The body is patina finished to that classic tone found on antique horns. The front and rear ends of the body are decorated with a geometric scrimshaw bands. The 3/4' wide strap strap is 52" long at the largest position. The strap has 9" of adjustment with ten eye holes.
